In 2007, while watching a popular TV show, I witnessed amazing gratification and love that I never experienced when writing a check to charities, whenever I have been able. Donating is always a good thing, but it’s not personal. It is very abstract; I write a check to an organization and simply trust that I am helping someone, somewhere.
I often wondered if there may be someone in my local community, or even a neighbor down the block, or next door, who may need help that I can easily give. My question has always been: How can I find that person? How can we connect?
I do not belong to any local churches or organizations. How can I find them just like these TV shows that reach out to individual people, individual families in need, in crisis? This was my question. This was my need. How can I find those in need in my immediate area?
I needed a bridge to connect me with those directly in my vicinity, on my block, in my community, who needed a helping hand. Real people that I could directly reach out to; people I could meet, offer my help to and then in the end give a real hug. I wanted to make a difference and know exactly who and how I helped on a very personal level. No “in between” organization or institution.
This is the personal connection, the personal reaching out my spirit sought. This is the one-on-one connection I feel our world is searching for right now. We might even make a new friend or two or three along the way.
My vision has been born through Wishadoo. Wishadoo is the bridge to connect person to person, neighbor to neighbor, heart to heart.
Wishadoo is my heart.
